Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 113 g unsalted butter softened
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 190 g all-purpose flour
  • 1.75 tsp baking powder
  • 120 ml milk
  • 2 medium apples peeled and chopped; Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well
Cinnamon Sugar
  • 67 g brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Glaze
  • 60 g powdered sugar
  • 15-30 ml milk use enough to achieve desired consistency

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon-sugar.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread if desired.
