Dough
  • 1 tsp salt Enhances flavor
  • 240 ml warm water About 100-110°F
  • 15 g granulated sugar Feeds the yeast
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast Leavening agent
  • 250-300 g all-purpose flour Adjust as needed
  • 1 tsp dried basil Add aromatic flavor
  • 1 tsp dried oregano Add aromatic flavor
  • 2 tsp dried rosemary Add aromatic flavor
  • 6 cloves garlic Finely chopped
  • 33 g parmesan cheese Grated
  • 15 g butter Split for topping
  • 30 ml olive oil Drizzle for baking

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt, 2 cups of flour, basil, oregano, and rosemary. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, adding more flour if needed, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Place the loaf on a baking sheet. Mix chopped garlic, parmesan, and butter, then spread over the dough.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
