  • 500 g Chicken breast or chicken thighs boneless, skinless Cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 60 ml Honey For a sweet glaze
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves fresh is best Minced
  • 60 ml Soy sauce Adds a savory depth
  • 30 ml Olive oil or vegetable oil For cooking the chicken
  • 400 g Cooked rice white rice, brown rice, or jasmine rice Base for the bowls
  • 1 tsp Salt To season the chicken
  • 1 tsp Black pepper To season the chicken
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch optional, for thickening the sauce Mix with water for a slurry
  • 60 ml Water To thin the sauce if needed
  • 150 g Broccoli Chopped, optional for added vegetables
  • 100 g Carrots Sliced, optional for added vegetables
  • 100 g Bell peppers Sliced, optional for added vegetables
  • 2 stalks Green onions Chopped, for garnish
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds For garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions. Fluff and set aside.
  2. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chicken in a single layer. Cook until golden and fully cooked.
  4. Mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, and water. For a thicker sauce, add cornstarch.
  5. Pour sauce over chicken. Stir to coat. Simmer until sauce is thick and sticky.
  6. Add vegetables in the last few minutes of cooking if desired.
  7. Serve chicken and sauce over rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
