Pecan Pie Mixture
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 4 large eggs lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup melted butter 1 stick
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cake Topping
  • 1 box yellow cake mix dry
  • 3/4 cup cold butter thinly sliced

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine chopped pecans, brown sugar, light corn syrup, beaten eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Spread the pecan mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the pecan mixture, covering it completely.
  5. Distribute the thinly sliced cold butter pieces evenly on top of the cake mix.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool before serving.
